About The Healthy Pastor Initiative™
“Where there is no guidance, a people falls,
but in an abundance of counselors there is safety.”
The Healthy Pastor Initiative™ is a movement born from the trenches of ministry—a response to the silent suffering of pastors and leaders who pour out while privately breaking down.
We exist to bring awareness, advocacy, and actionable support to the mental health needs of those who shepherd others.
Our mission is simple but urgent: To create safe spaces for pastors to breathe, be honest, and begin the journey of healing—without fear of judgment or stigma.
This initiative is not a program; it’s a call to arms. A divine assignment to help leaders confront their pain, find their people, and receive the care they need to continue their assignment.
At TheHPI, we believe that healthy leaders build healthy churches—and it’s time we stop ignoring the crisis in the pulpit. We’re here to advocate for the shepherds, to walk alongside them, and to say boldly: Your mental health matters. Your life matters. And you are not alone.
“I advocate for shepherds because I am one.”
With over 25 years of ministry leadership experience, I understand the weight of serving God's people while going through trauma, pain, and exhaustion. My personal journey through mental health restoration has become the foundation for my mission: to create safe spaces for pastors and leaders to heal, be restored, and rise again.— Lamyia J. Why We Exist
When USA Today published the headline, "For American clergy, the burdens of their calling increasingly threaten mental well-being," it confirmed what many of us have known—and lived—for years.
The pressure. The isolation. The silent suffering behind the pulpit.
Pastors are breaking under the weight of expectations and stigma. Some leave ministry entirely. Some fall. Some never recover.
The Healthy Pastor Initiative™ was born as a direct response to this growing crisis. Because it’s not enough to acknowledge the problem—we must confront it. I advocate for shepherds because I am one. And I refuse to stay silent while others bleed behind the scenes.
Will you join the movement to restore them?
