My Story
The Healthy Pastor Initiative™ was born out of my own journey—my own plight—as a pastor navigating life, ministry, and mental health. This isn’t theory for me. This is my reality.
I am a pastor who lives with Major Depressive Disorder, PTSD, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, and ADHD. Yes — I said lives with it. Not "used to." Not "used to struggle." This is part of my story, and I am not ashamed of it.
For many pastors, this level of transparency feels impossible. The stigma surrounding mental health in ministry is real — and heavy. Too many suffer in silence, afraid that honesty will cost them credibility, respect, or even their calling. That’s exactly why TheHPI exists.
This is not just a project or program for me — this is a God-given burden I carry with conviction. I am passionate about creating space where pastors can finally be honest without fear. Where mental illness isn’t treated like a character flaw or spiritual failure. Where leaders can heal while they lead.
I am not my diagnosis. My disorders are not demonic spirits. My transparency is not rebellion against the Church. This is about education, healing, and breaking the silence that has choked too many leaders for far too long.
Through The Healthy Pastor Initiative™, my assignment is to create the hard conversations between faith leaders, mental health professionals, and the communities we serve — so that stigma can finally be shattered. Because yes, you can live victorious even with a thorn.
I am committed — every single day — to maintaining my mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual health. And as the Senior Pastor-Elect of the soon-launching Healthy Church Colorado, I am not only building a church—I’m building a movement.
TheHPI exists because the crisis is real. The call is heavy. And the healing is overdue.
